Finnett Roberta Landers was born on January 20, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio to
Ina Blaine Fitzgerald and Marion Ginyard both preceded her in death. She
was the second oldest of eight children. Her siblings, Agnes Hopkins, Edith
Figueroa, Robert Johnson and David Johnson, all preceded her in death.
Finnett attended Cleveland Public schools and graduated from Cleveland
Extension High School in 1967. After graduation she attended and received a
certificate for Court Stenography at Cuyahoga Community College in 1968.
As a young teenager, Finnett worked at Hot Sauce Williams as a head cashier.
She also worked temporarily as a nurse assistant at DePaul's Maternity and
Infant Home. In 1969, she landed a position as an administrator in Accident
records for the City of Cleveland Police Department. Later, she was promoted
to Senior Data Conversion Operator. She served 30 years and retired in 1999.
After retirement, she pursued many interests and hobbies such as taking
classes in Tai Chi, Line Dance, Piano, Watercolor painting, and Belly Dancing.
Finnett also loved listening to gospel music, playing Bid Whist, Gardening,
and writing meditations.
Finnett was also active in her community; she donated her time in the Helping
Hand Literacy Program at Michael R. White Elementary School, teaching
young children to read.
She was also a philanthropist, donating money to many nonprofits, such as St.
Joseph's Indian School, Feed the Children, March of Dimes, Mercy Ships, and
Shriners Children's. She also received the 2026 Certificate of Appreciation
from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in recognition of 19 years of
outstanding support.
Finnett served as an assistant pastor for Light Path for Perfect Living where
she taught metaphysics and the bible.
She will be missed by all who knew her including her children, Pamela
Jordan, Fred Jordan, Kim Jordan and Jeaneen Jones (nee Jordan). Her
grandson, Cooper Emerson Hawk Jones. Her son-in-law, Anthony Jones Sr,
her siblings, Henra Jean Dufor, Joseph Johnson and Marlene Evans. Her
nieces and nephews, Robin Chubney, Dana Wiggins, Joseph Johnson Jr,
Bernard Johnson, Jamie Johnson, LaShon Stinson, Robert Stinson, Miche'al
Knight, Mark Hopkins, Angel Hopkins, Eugene Sapp, Magdalene Carlisle,
Deborah Lewis, Carlos Figueroa and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2026, in the Corrigan-Deighton Funeral Home 21900 Euclid Ave. at 11:00am
