John Frank Rogoski, a devoted family man, U.S. Army veteran, and lifelong engineer and amateur radio operator, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2025, in Euclid, Ohio, at the remarkable age of 101. He had been a dedicated resident of Euclid for 50 years. Born on July 11, 1924, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, John's life was defined by dedication and ingenuity. He was a proud alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His distinguished service to his country began shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Driven by his youthful confidence in his marksmanship, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as an Aircraft Gunner and Radio Operator during World War II. He continued his commitment to the nation during the Korean War, serving as a medic. John's military carreer took him finally to Fort Lewis near Tacoma, Washington where he settled and raised his children. After leaving the military in the 1950s, John applied his engineering degree and Army Air Corps experience at the Boeing Aircraft Company. He worked on some of the most iconic aircraft programs in history, including the B-52 bomber and later the revolutionary 747. His time in Seattle was marked by the region's dynamic growth and eventual downturn, famously captured by the "Will The Last Person To Leave Seattle Please Turn Off The Lights" billboard, after the great Seattle layoff of 1971. John continued his passion for engineering in the Midwest, holding positions in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Rockford, Illinois; and Bryan, Ohio. He ultimately settled in Euclid, Ohio, where he continued his career and married his second wife, Alfrieda Paolucci. Throughout his life, John remained an avid Amateur Radio Operator—a hobby that merged his love of engineering and communication. He held the prestigious Extra Class license with the call sign KS8A, connecting with friends across the globe for decades. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alfrieda Rogoski (née Paolucci), and his brother, Joseph Rogoski of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is survived by his four loving adult children: Richard S. Rogoski of Rotonda West, Florida; David M. Rogoski of Hoodsport, Washington; Julie Ann Rogoski of Green Valley, Arizona; and Joseph P. Rogoski of Olympia, Washington. John’s legacy lives on through his five grandsons: Steven Rogoski of Tampa, Florida; Christopher Rogoski of Tacoma, Washington; Timothy Rogoski of Madison, Ohio; Phillip Rogoski of Charleston, South Carolina; and Matthew Rogoski of Chicago, Illinois. He was also blessed with three great granddaughters: Essie of Charleston, South Carolina, and Tilly and Maeve of Tacoma, Washington. Funeral Arrangements A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Corrigan Deighton Funeral Home, 21900 Euclid Avenue, Euclid, OH 44117.
