Richard J. Myers

Richard John Myers, 83 of Richmond Heights, Ohio formerly of Bay Village, Ohio and Mansfield, Massachusetts passed away on May 30, 2024. Richard was born in Sycamore, Ohio on March 24, 1941 to the late John and Millie (Loverich) Myers. On June 16, 1962 he married Susan J. (Shroats) Myers in Marion, Ohio. Susan passed away on July 19, 2023. 

Richard was the loving father of Michael and Kerry; cherished Grandpa to Dominique (Aaron) and Miranda; oldest brother of ten siblings; friend and mentor to so many. 

Richard was a 1959 graduate of Marion Catholic High School. After marrying Susan, Richard was drafted and served his country as a member of the United States Army. He became a paratrooper for the sole purpose to make enough money for Susan to join him where he was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam War. When the couple returned to the states, they briefly lived in Fort Wayne, IN before settling in Bay Village, OH to raise their children. Richard worked almost 40 years in retail management working for Things Remembered, Children’s Palace, and retiring from Petco in 2002. Richard was then free to pursue his passion as a talented home improvement handyman/remodeler. He rehabbed and flipped houses for a few years and then owned a handyman business as well as worked for Weight Watchers until shortly after his dementia diagnosis in late 2017. 

Richard loved spending time with friends and family. He was always busy tinkering around the house or maintaining his yard. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Many fond memories were made fishing on Lake Erie and on the many vacations he enjoyed. 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 3 pm in the CORRIGAN-DEIGHTON FUNERAL HOME located at 21900 Euclid Ave. Euclid OH. 44117. Friends may call from 1 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
